Solutions

The AIRCOM access & core planning team work closely with operators to select the most cost effective core network strategy and architecture to support voice and advanced data services. AIRCOM’s core planning Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) bring industry best practices to support the operators with:

  • Core & access nominal planning
  • Core & access roll-out planning
  • Optimal Architecture selection
  • Synchronisation planning. Integrated next generation network planning tool solutions

Some of the key aspects considered in our core & access planning methodology are reliability, scalability, availability and security.

We are currently developing a new end to end planning tool that will allow operators to plan their migration for PDH/SDH networks to IP/MPLS solutions with Ethernet delivery of bandwidth to the base stations. In addition, this new tool will be able to plan the key network elements within the next generation mobile network, including the R4 MSC Server and MGW, packet switched core and IMS. This tool therefore has all the basic building blocks to allow operators, or AIRCOM consultants on behalf of the operators, to plan the optimal evolution of the network to LTE and the evolved packet system, EPS.

The tool will include the ability to plan the voice quality of the network utilising the ITU-T’s R-Factor capability. By planning the end to end delay and using the codec error performance from the radio planning tool, combined with the handset acoustic degradations, the voice quality of the network can be planned.
